With the changing landscape surrounding flu and virus transmission, you are bound to be concerned for the health of your new baby and family. Your health and well-being are of paramount concern to me, always. Besides being fully vaccinated, I take some other precautions for all of my visits.

General Health and Hygiene :

  • I offer to remove my shoes at the door and wear clean, usually breast-themed socks. A little levity can go a long way.

  • I wash my hands vigorously, often multiple times during a visit. The amount of hand lotion I require at the end of a day could probably moisturize a small elephant.

  • I write with a new pen for each family, use a disposable protective cover on my clipboard and mobile phone, and wipe down my scale and any other materials used with hospital-grade sanitizer after each home visit I make.

  • I ask you to provide a thin blanket for baby’s comfort on my scale during the visit.

  • If you’d like me to wear a mask, please let me know. I’ll wear a clean KF94 or KN95 upon arrival. It is your choice to wear masks or not during the visit.

  • I use non-latex gloves, which happen to be a lovely shade of purple, when I do an oral exam on the baby.

  • If I am sick or if anyone in my household is sick, I will contact you to reschedule your appointment. If you are ill, or anyone in your house is, I ask the same of you. I will happily reschedule our appointment so that we can avoid transmitting any germs to subsequent families I may see.

    • Right now, I frequently take at-home COVID tests.

    • Right now, parents must not only complete a COVID Risk Consent Form upon booking but also must answer a health questionnaire on the day of the visit to determine if an in-person visit is in everyone’s best interest.
